The introduction of the Apprenticeship levy in May 2017 saw one of the biggest changes in the apprenticeship landscape, putting employers directly in control of how and with whom they chose to invest their apprenticeship levy to deliver training solutions in line with their own professional development and staff training plans.
Two years on and only 15% of the total apprenticeship levy paid by employers since May 2017 to January 2019 has been utilised and with May 2019, the 24-month anniversary, employers will start to see their initial funds potentially expiring on a month by month basis.
Analysis of apprenticeship starts from August 2018 to February 2019 continues to show that levy paying employers are investing in Leadership and Management with the level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor reporting over 10,000 starts in the last 7 months and over 25,000 starts since the introduction of the levy.
Employers who adopted the apprenticeship levy as part of their training strategy may continue to invest in leadership and management apprenticeships but may also have been planning for what the next 2 years investment may look like. With a growing number of apprenticeships each month our expert team of advisers here at Babington can support you in identifying the most effective and efficient ways of utilising your apprenticeship levy for the next 2 years.
